U-DATE!= interesting
So I Couldnt convince the employer to allow me to work out of Washington State....dissapointing I tell you. Working @ the corporate office is however, interesting. At least I am making decisions that have a long term effect on this organization's growth...that feels good I think? I have been tasked with taking all 47 of our satellite offices and upgrading them with t-1 lines, and implementing VOIP company wide, plus designing the 3 rural wisp networks. So while I don't exactly have all the time in the world to be going out, Portland is not interesting. Maybe if I actually go out to the bars, spend some time with old freinds...I might change my mind. I really just want to be home.....but where is that? I was hoping I could convince them to allow me to move to at least san francisco :) This company has given me an immmense workload though which I really am enjoying.......already thinking about vacation! On another note, i made some new tracks. One i havent titled yet, but i think it is the best track I have written yet. hit me up @ jeffthomas@fastmail.fm if you would like a copy. - Chili Current Mood: mellowCurrent Music: sniper mode- big city lights EP | | Sunday, February 1st, 2004 | | 9:28 pm |

Miguel stayed on the tables until almost 7 am, I was so tired i tried to crash in his Z4 for a few hours. Worked on com.unity's page for a few hours today. thank you for calling microsoft we are pointing and laughing at you, support
(ATTN- fellow freinds who work for microsoft- dont take this personally, this is not directed at you if you work at microsoft, I am sure that you love your job and the nice, climate controlled, work enviorment. And remember, every day, your company is making 100-1000 times more per hour for the work you do. But thats okay, because you dont need the money, bill does so he can save starving children in some small part of some place in africa (so he doesnt pay his earnings in taxes, and people think he is such a nice guy ) thank you for calling microsoft technical support. If you are a business customer, and would like to pay more money, to have 20 year old kids read the knowledge base for you, press 1. We know you have no choice but to use our products, thats why its 300.00 per call. if we can't solve the problem, we will make sure to take 5 months to post it to your account, because well, we can. If you are calling about your MSN dsl account, that for some reason we could never figure out how or why its not working, but you still have to pay us anyways, even though you never transfered a packet of data on our network, just hang up, your fucked. We are a delaware corporation, try to sue. I know 1500 dollars in fees sounds like a lot to you, but we wipe our ass with that kind of money every 1.2 seconds. We still wont give you a refund. Feel free to call, we would be glad to give you the run around and tell you that tech support has to approve the credit, then customer care, no wait! tech support! call them! you understand, we have to put our kids through private school, and buy them lear jets for their 6th birthday. Kids are expensive, especially if you grow up in bellevue. We promise if you give us more money, that we will run you around in circles, because our support staff really dont work for us anyways, they work out of the back of a shed in south dakota. They can at least read however. Childrens books, but they can read. We love outsourcing, because then we don't actually have to talk to customers. Customers suck, especially because they could tell us how to make our product better, we just want to hook up intel you know, by making more bloated software. After you have given us some money, remember ( we want all of it ) for free you can access the microsoft knowledge base by using internet explorer and typing in your problem, which you will then be led on a myriad of wrong answers to other problems. It might leave you wondering if we know what keywords are, but dont worry- we do. we just put no intelligence whatsoever in our search engine. We like frustrating you, it gives us immense pleasure, because we know you cant function in the business world unless you are using our highly virus prone outlook product. (here's a secret: we actually employ the people who write those viruses, we do it because its funny. You dont need a secure OS anyways, you need to buy more software. Buy, buy. We care about your business, so please feel free to get frustrated and upset when our software by default leaves its ass wide open, for french hackers to gain domain administration privledges on your machine, then set up webservers for port sites because you have really fast bandwidth. If you recieved windows XP with your computer, please call the manufacturer of the computer that you purchased from, because its their mothafuckin job to support our software. We make sure they can't survive without bundling our ugly, 1 billion process running in the background because we really need to have 5 multithreaded connections to your machine from our servers without your permission. If you bought your computer from Dell, you will probably talk to someone in india who barely speaks english, but knows 10x as much about windows, and 70 other operating systems than you do. Dont worry though, we guarantee if you ask your question or ask them to repeat themselves a minimum of 14 times, you will understand what they said. If purchased a toshiba, please be prepeared for hold times up to 17 hours, and again, you probably know more about computers and operating sytsems than we do, so why even call? If you cannot boot up your computer, or access the bios, its not our fault.Nothing is our fault. Please re read the EULA you signed by purchasing your computer. We know you didnt agree to anything, but its just there so we dont have to actually hold any real liablity for anything we do. The fault Is yours for buying our product. We suggest if you want a stable, hardened, OS, that you download linux, we heard its pretty sweet. plus, all the software is free for linux, (because software engineeers really dont need to pay rent, eat food or anything, everything should be free ) or you can get a mac which is actually netbsd with pretty graphics. We know, unix is great, but we hate them because in JR high, we got in a fight once with UNIX and they kicked our ass sideways. plus, if we made an OS that was well made, what do you think would happen? we wouldnt have anything to support anymore and then we wouldnt take more of your money. So its good business to sell 1/2 written software. If all else fails, and you use a NON MICROSOFT PAY-US-TO-APPROVE YOUR DRIVERS product, dont worry. People will just get too scared to install your sofware, and then you won't get sales because of misimformation. If you then decide to use a non microsoft, file recovery tool, expect it to take 12 hours to find out all your data is lost because you used our EFS. Remember- 2 weeks of downtime because we dont know what "security" is, builds character. Just think of the great stories you can tell your grandkids, about how it was okay that you experienced major, fatal problems 6 times in 1 year using our operating system. If you were smart, you would have installed 13 virus scanners, 2 software firewalls, and purchased 2 large TANKS to protect your ports. Remember, its your job to make your computer usable. Just promise you wont be upset if you lose your files because you encrypted them for safety, and now are gone. If you spent 400 dollars to upgrade your copy of windows 2000, to XP, we thank you, and laugh at you at the same time, but then would be happy to provide you for free, of course after you wait on hold, a person on the other side of the phone to try to fix the problem for you, even though most likely, that person actually uses a etech-a-scetch to access the internet. Thats okay, they will lie to you and you will feel okay for like, 5 minutes then not call us back for at least an hour. We were trying to take a nap, thank you very much. We promise all future product releases will be very secure ( hahahhaha just kidding ) in the future, just back up remotely on a daily basis. Remember, even if you get a minor virus you will think your backup files will reinstall, thats just a trick we convince you we can do. Okay, we lie. It's okay though, because we are microsoft, everyone has to buy our crap. WE promise we will enter every market that we can steal market share from other companies, put them out of business, then release our crappy verision of their better product. and finally, dont think about inventing anything, we own all the rights to all the US patents. For everything. Because remember, if you patent something, we will just patent 40 other things that can prove that we really own your ideas. SO in conclusion- give us more money, we will give you more crap and keep breaking your machine. | | Saturday, March 15th, 2003 | | 4:08 am |

wow, thats pretty true... | My sphere is Guardian (Person of great Love and Altruism), and my class is Rogue (Precise and Unhindered). I am a Protector. You won't let anything or anyone threaten the ones you love if you have anything to say about it -- and you aren't afraid to back that up by any means possible. You might get your hands dirty in your life. You might do things that more lawful people would question. But there is no doubt in your mind that what you are doing is right, and you will have no regrets. To be a Protector is to shed many layers of "status quo," of "morality," and, to a degree, of honor, in order to dedicate yourself to the protection of your love in any way you can. You are a truly rare breed. You are loved in return for your great dedication by the people who value you. You know how to keep secrets, and uphold your word. no more crack for breakast.
man, reading that later I must have really been out of my head. no more crack for breakfast! no more posts! I promise! At least I am laughing. I did for a moment. I hope someone did. you see, spice alley is a house where some people live. Spicealley was founded by this man: http://www.spicealley.net/peace/Pages/Image1.html (image stolen from www.spicealley.net) They went from a simple living situation to a creative entity, which mantra is "Spicealley isnt just about ruining everyone elses good time, its about us having a good time at the expense of others." They now have a "posse" based around the ownership of a stuffed animal called the catworm that is available at IKEA stores worldwide. I too was drawn to the catworm for its multifunction-cute-swedish design, plus I wanted to be cool like them. I was duly imformed I could not have one by members of the "alley" which now is a website, a large mailing list, and easily won the award in 2001 for the most annoyingly interesting camp @ pheonix festival. As you know, the 6 am games of joust (or was it pong, I didnt go ) drove many fest attendees to anger and near insanity. Spice alley unfortunately did not defend its title this year @ phoenix festival, which could have been some of the most incredibly interesting chaos assembled, as they would have had to battle the up and comers, chickenHED. (www.chickenhed.org or .com, too lazy and tired to check ) An anonymous source from TEAM SPICEALLEY even complimented chickenHED on their camp this year, saying it was the "BEST SHIT EVER MAN!!!" which under section 23.69.69.303. of the jaded ex raver for the state of Washington, that they forfeit their annoying soundsystem of the year title by default. I suggest next year a full on battle, head to head, WWF style. Wait! there is not next year! nite! | | Monday, July 15th, 2002 | | 7:50 pm |

yay sundazed! that was fun! WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU DOING? FAQ for those who care why and what.
Since I had thought that I had been pretty obvious to everyone about what my plans were for my live set/ dj destructoretardo set, I didnt think I had to write a FAQ. judging by crowd reaction, including the people involved with sundazed as well, its neccessary. 1) I can mix very well, however I was intentionally mixing records poorly, as well as playing really obnoxious, noisy records. If you had read any of my previous writings about my experiences locally as a DJ you would understand that this performance was about me shedding a former self. So by mixing records carelessly and poorly it was intended to display my feelings of negativity and anger directed towards the DICHOTOMY of DJ culture and the underlying bullshit of it. 2) I gave each record away for a few reasons. First and foremost, It was to show that records are not necessary for one to be a DJ. Being a DJ doesn’t need to be a consumer driven activity. It was also to challenge people to be open minded about music and technology in general. I can go over this later with you if you like, offline.(email : rising35@attbi.com ) 3) If you were wondering why sometimes the laptop portion of my set didn’t sound perfect, sounds came in too loud, or what not, its because live performance isn’t always perfect, especially when you can’t see, or pre-que sounds. Due to difficulty arranging transport to the event, I was a little bit late. 4) If I seemed rude and you talked to me, its because I was in a really bad mood, which was rather aggravated by some personal stuff- so I apologize. 5) Some of the underlying reasons behind my thought process : • music should not be controlled by record companies of any sort. Technology is at a point where artists should be able to make a sustainable living selling their art via the web or direct. There is no need for corporation controlled art. Record companies are in the business of screwing artists, and it needs to change. Support this change by paying artists directly, not lining record company pockets. Seek out and promote direct sales of music, to help promote this sustainable economic model! If you download an mp3 for free and you like it, find an artists website by using google or what not, and offer them money for it! Help eliminate the abuse of musicians by not supporting corporate music! • Packaging and media are wasteful, unnecessary, and just a marketing tool. Do not buy music from record labels or stores that do not support artists. If a store or a label is not open minded about alternate forms of distrubution, help create demand by requesting it, and encouraging others. • DJ culture does not currently support the ARTISTS that create the music, in a sustainable way. They support record companies, distributors, and DJ’s. Support the ART, support the ARTISTS by encouraging more intelligent distrubution that reliquishes control from the labels to the ARTIST. • DJ’S NEED to be more open minded about technology as a means of creative interaction with their audience. Sure, tradition is one thing- but if you can use technology as a means of artisic endeavor, to a more creatively freeing method of live performance, they why would you stick to the old method? More creative freedom means more ability to innovate. Not to mention the fact that digital media without packaging (mp3's, downloaded music ) would create less stress on the enviorment, cost less, and provide a more sustainable economic model for artists. After all, its the music that you pay for. open your mind. With that said, I am not looking to argue with people about my opinions, I however, am choosing to just tell you what mine are, and accept yours. Economic evolution will eventually change the markets the same way, The choice is yours if you wish to be more creatively free and perform. As ritchie hawtin said over a year ago, digital music will seperate true DJ'S from professional shoppers. True talent will become more glaringly obvious versus hype. Very soon, the methods of production will be reduced to the cost of 200 viynl records, and have the same actual quality and characteristics as 100 thousand dollars in studio gear. Think about it. |
